In 1997, a group of juvenile boas were imported from Suriname by Zoo Botanica of Miami and were later acquired by Peter Bandre of Incredible Pets. This group was quickly sold off except for one male that Brian Abrahamson was lucky enough to acquire. This male was paired with a large imported female that produced 16 babies which founded his FLR bloodline (floridaredtails.com).

Debates surfaced suggesting that the animals were smuggled out of Brazil. The short tails, huge peaks and golden color gave some doubt as to where these animals came from and were subsequently renamed “Boas of Unknown Origin”. The most noticeable trait is the enormous size of the neonates and the pronounced dorsal patterns. Brian Abrahamson continued to work with these animals, producing numerous litters of hardy babies year after year.

Amer has worked very hard to reacquire and bring together most of the original breeders and offspring to ensure that this bloodline is kept alive. He has also brought in some unrelated stock with similar traits that is sure to enhance their potential. In addition to the FLR stock, Amer has also acquired pure North Brazilian Bcc stock that traces back to the original Lemke lines. With my help, our cooperative effort should yield some outstanding Bcc. I will be producing limited numbers of various Bcc but I have handed off most of that burden to Amer to combine with his very focused effort. In turn, all surplus will be marketed through me via this website regardless of it being born here on the West Coast or at his facility on the East Coast.
