I was invited to be on a panel of guest judges for dozens of categories of reptiles. From there we headed off to Komodo and Flores. Afterwards we spent a couple of days in Bali to be normal tourists and relax. I just made this video to highlight some of the Komodo and Flores stuff we got….outstanding trip!!!

I have been checking my female amazonica with her egg sac daily. This morning she was still carrying it and had the opening to her cork tube sealed with webbing. Tonight I checked on her and the cork tube was open with her sitting at the top. When I looked inside I noticed the egg sac laying on the bottom of the tube. I called Francisco Torres and he advised me to remove the sac and open it, also with some additional instructions on how to handle what I might see upon doing so. I snapped this photo before separating bad eggs from viable young. The count, at least for right now, is 46. I have them set up right now and hopefully they will molt successfully into official little spiderlings soon. So there it is, my first official spider breeding from beginning to this stage.

This last week was great here at DM Exotics. As if the Spilotes and ball pythons were not enough, yesterday I noticed that my Avicularia amazonica had laid an egg sac. She seems to be doing well as a first time mom. I have been resisting the urge to keep looking but I did snap off a couple of pics. I am guessing the sac to be at 1-2 weeks at this point based on the last time I got on the ladder and peered down into her cork tube with the flashlight and dental mirror. We are flying across country and will be checking out the F.I.R.E. show in Orlando next weekend.
If you haven’t been following this season’s videos, you can click back through the archives here or check out my YouTube Channel(username: DMexotics). These guys just started leaving their eggs today. The first one pipped on day 78 at which point I manually pipped the rest of the eggs. Today is day 81 and finally they are starting to come out. They won’t be ready in time for the Reptile Super Show but should be in Anaheim at the NARBC.
